Star Wars: Her colleagues compare her to this cult character, she hits the jackpot

And if your colleagues had fun comparing you to a character from the Star Wars saga, what would your reaction be? For a British social security employee, this is unacceptable. And she took the matter to court, and she pocketed the jackpot.

Compared to this cult character, she takes legal action

Imagine that during a seminar, your colleagues had fun comparing you to one of the characters from the most iconic film franchise? If it were Darth Vader, you would be the happiest employee, wouldn't you? Imagine that this is not the case for this British Social Security civil servant across the Channel who was compared to the Sith Lord by her colleagues.

A legal body located in the south suburbs of London considered that this comparison between the employee and the famous character from Star Wars was simply "insulting" and "vexing". Furthermore, the fact that her colleagues enjoyed repeating to her that she had the same personality as a representative of the "Dark Side" could be equated to harm for an individual in their workplace.

The main person concerned, Lorna Rooke, a former employee of the blood donation service at British National Health Service, brought the matter to court. Although she arrived in 2003 as a training manager, she decided to step up after a team-building session, which aimed to foster bonds between employees, during which she was compared to Darth Vader. The Myer-Briggs Index is a way of classifying people into 16 categories by taking into account their degree of introversion, intuition and how they judge or perceive the world around them based on their thoughts and feelings.

While Lorna Rooke has to leave to answer a phone call, one of her colleagues fills out her questionnaire for her and the result is clear: Lorna is Darth Vader, she has fallen to the Dark Side. Upon discovering the result, Lorna does not appreciate the conclusion of the test and feels devalued. She believes that it was because of this episode that she resigned. Faced with the judges, she won her case and the court decided to award her the sum of 29,000 pounds sterling, the equivalent of 34,000 euros.
