Few contemporary works have had and continue to have the cultural impact that Star Wars has had around the world. The fictional universe populated by Jedi and Sith, Force-sensitive beings, and spaceships imagined by George Lucas in 1977 has lost none of its appeal almost 60 years later. Many modern artists draw inspiration from these films and pay homage to their characters. Darth Vader, in particular, is very often diverted with humor: discover some of these funniest parodies from the cult cartoons of our childhood!
#1 Zootopia 2: Zebra Style
The trailer for Zootopia 2 has just been unveiled by Disney, with an unexpected and fun nod to Star Wars! At 51 seconds into the trailer, you can see a zebra dressed as Darth Vader partying with his friends. Black helmet and cape, red lightsaber, electronic belt with light-up buttons, it's all there. The kind of Easter egg that will please parents who came to see the sequel to the cartoon with their children!
#2 Toy Story 2: Emperor Zurg
Buzz Lightyear's ultimate enemy is a delightful homage to Darth Vader. Described by the astronaut in the first Toy Story as an evil villain building a weapon capable of destroying entire planets (hello Death Star), he also shares a very dark and robotic look with the villain from Star Wars. Later, he even pretends to be Buzz's father in a brilliant scene!
#3The Fairly OddParents: Dark Laser
The Japanese-inspired helmet, the black cape and belt: it's Dark Laser, and he loves destroying planets (well, well). This cyborg is the fearsome leader of a series of Empire-inspired toys in Star Wars, brought to life by Timmy's blunder. This version of Darth Vader is both cruel and childish, and this mix makes for some very funny moments in the animated series.
#4 Phineas and Ferb: Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz
In a 2010s crossover, the mad scientist from Phineas and Ferb is an employee of Darth Vader (whom he shares a style with and idolizes) on the Death Star, and his obsession is still Perry the Platypus. His latest evil plan? The Sith-inator, a machine that transforms honest people into Sith, the subject of a very funny song sung by Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. #5 South Park: Dark Chef
South Park, one of the longest-running sitcoms of all time, had every opportunity to pay homage to Star Wars, and it did just that. The animated series has fun by resurrecting the Chief in a special Darth Vader costume, after he gets killed in the worst possible way: he's struck by lightning, falls into the void, is attacked by a puma and shot. His friends then try to bring him back to life in a scene straight out of Revenge of the Sith, and it's hilarious.#6 Johnny Test: Dark Vegan
This neon green version of Darth Vader has the particularity of being rather nice when he's not wearing his mask, and absolutely abject when he is. Given his name, you might guess he's a vegetarian, and to feed his home world with energy, he sucks up resources from other planets. After confronting Johnny, he comes to live on Earth, where he discovers a food that will change his life: toast! A real shame, for someone who ends up burned on Mustafar in the original work...
