While probable fake leaks about the 10th generation of Pokémon have been making waves on social media for the past few days, let's focus on a promising little game that recently appeared on Steam. And Pokémon fans, be warned, it might catch your eye. Cute creatures, a lighthearted spirit, and a dreamlike setting, enough to make you have a good time without too much hassle.
A cozy game for fans of small creatures
With more than ten thousand releases per year, it's difficult for small games to stand out and get noticed. Some manage to stand out during the Steam Neo Fest, while others use social media to make a name for themselves. Luckily, content creators can bring them a little visibility. Regardless, one of the most popular methods remains the demo. A practice that has continued to prove itself over the years, but which still seems to be losing momentum. And for good reason, you still have to take the time to create a demo worthy of the name to attract players.
A double-edged method that remains effective, if well done. And now, on May 12, the promising Whimside puts its demo online on Steam. Scheduled for the 3rd quarter of 2025, this creature collection game is presented as an idle game integrated into the lower part of your screen. Like Rusty's Retirement or Tiny Pasture, Whimside takes care of decorating your screen with a bit of gameplay, without requiring too much attention. Be careful though, if you tend to flit around, you might get lost. In Whimside, you "embark on an adventure through enchanting worlds, each populated by unique creatures and hidden secrets." It's up to you to capture and create new species of Whimlings, before decorating their living space as you see fit. A cozy, simple, yet addictive game.Capture and develop your Whimlings to unlock new biomes, and discover their secrets and new rare species. As with Pokémon breeding, you'll need to bring two Whimlings to breeding to create a new creature.
And for streamers, a Twitch integration is planned, allowing you to share your adventure with your community. A side project that can develop itself in one part of your screen, while your attention is elsewhere. Fans of cute little creatures, you might find what you're looking for here. To make up your own mind, nothing could be simpler, just try the demo available on the Steam page of Whimside, right here.
