The weeks go by, and so do the free Epic Games Store games. Since its creation over five years ago, the store has been handing out weekly gifts. And despite several duplicates, the most regular users have already been able to get their hands on over 400 different releases, just that. However, when it's time to pull out its Mega Sale, the publisher pulls out some big titles from its bag, which often turn out to be high-quality AAA or AA titles. So, two new surprise free games are arriving on the Epic Games Store.
Two mystery free games on the Epic Games Store
The EGS strikes again with a bang. Every year, during its Mega Sale, the platform breaks with its routine by offering more exciting releases than usual. Out with the highly confidential independent releases, and in with the big free games. Generally, the publisher is a little more generous and, to create a buzz, keeps the identity of the upcoming gifts a secret. It's not uncommon for it to be revealed in advance thanks to the usual leakers, but the mystery will clearly remain intact this time. However, it's not out of the question that their names will be revealed a few hours before the official announcement.
The big reveal of the next free Epic Games Store games will therefore take place today at 5 p.m. sharp. Speculation is rife, since, as usual, the Fortnite creators have released their little teaser. The most likely hypothesis remains that one of the two free games will be Neon Abyss, an excellent independent production. For now, this remains only a theory. Until then, latecomers still have a few hours to get their hands on last week's goodies, namely Deadtime Defenders and the delightful Touch Type Tale. As a reminder, these two free Epic Games Store games will become paid again starting this Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 4:59 p.m..
When will these next free games be available?
They will thus make way for the mystery free games, which will be available from May 15 to 22, 2025 at 5 p.m. To give you an idea, last year it was Dragon Age Inquisition that opened the ball, followed by Farming Simulator 22, Chivalry 2, and Marvel's Midnight Suns. Suffice it to say that the Epic Games Store knows how to create an event. Like last year, all users should be entitled to a few additional gifts, generally in the form of free content packs. Rumor has it that Fall Guys, Wuthering Waves, and World of Tanks will be in the spotlight. Here again, we'll have to wait for a proper official announcement.
