The GeForce RTX 5080 SUPER is already starting to make waves

Launched at the beginning of the year, the GeForce RTX 5080 quickly made its mark on retailers' shelves, alongside the other models in the RTX 50 Series range. But NVIDIA isn't one to rest on its laurels: as was the case with its previous generation GeForces, the manufacturer could well present a "refresh" of its Blackwell graphics cards in a few months.

An RTX 5080 packed with video memory

Famous for his leaks concerning NVIDIA products, the leaker Kopite7kimi believes that the manufacturer has in its plans a GeForce RTX 5080 SUPER which would correct the few negative points criticized in the original model. More precisely, this SUPER version would benefit from a GB203-450 graphics chipset instead of the GB203-400 of the classic RTX 5080 (still with the same number of computing units), but would above all include 50% more GDDR7 memory, for a total of 24 GB. Slightly faster (32 Gb/s against 30 Gb/s), this memory would still use a 256-bit wide bus, for a total bandwidth reaching 1024 GB/s, where that of the basic RTX 5080 peaks at 960 GB/s.

The RTX 5080 SUPER version would benefit from a slightly different printed circuit (or PCB) than the classic model, and would especially display a consumption in slight increase. The TBP (Thermal Board Power) would thus exceed the 400 watt mark, while the 5080 displays “only” 360 watts of maximum consumption. With such characteristics, this RTX 5080 SUPER appears in any case as an interesting evolution but certainly not as a revolution. A “refresh” in the rules of the art, in short, that we are now eager to discover and test.
