The Office is back. Between the Australian remake and the American spin-off, fans of The Office shouldn't miss out. Especially since The Paper, the spin-off of The Office from Peacock, has revealed its premiere date and shared a first image. And while the series gave us some news last year, it's time for something new, and especially the return of a cult character.

It's hard to forget the famous Michael, Dwight, Pam, Jim, Kevin, Toby, Creed, or even Robert California, key characters who have left their mark on The Office, and especially on fans of the series. But The Office is back, and that's through The Paper, a new mockumentary in which "the team of documentary filmmakers who immortalized the Dunder Mifflin branch in Scranton is at the search for a new story when she discovers a historic Midwestern newspaper that's on the verge of disappearing and the publisher who's trying to revive it with volunteer reporters."
Even though The Paper is a departure from The Office in terms of casting, the series sees Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant serving as executive producers, while Greg Daniels, producer of The Office, is none other than the co-showrunner of The Paper, alongside Michael Koman. And if you thought The Paper, the first spin-off of The Office, was going to be released any time soon, a release date has already been announced, set for next September.

Planned for September on Peacock, The Paper will follow the misadventures of The Truth Teller, a newspaper in the midst of a revival. And as the first image of the spin-off reveals, a cult actor from the American version of The Office is back, in the person of Oscar Nunez. Oscar Nunez will reprise his role as Oscar, for a character who went from paper supplies to newspapers. Moving on from The Office is no easy feat. Many spin-offs and remakes have fallen flat on their faces with fans of their respective series.
However, it's still possible that things will take off. It took several years, and especially several seasons, for The Office to take root with fans. The series is now easily cited as one of the most memorable of recent years. The Paper may follow the same path, hopefully not a cheap spin-off designed to push fans into subscribing to a streaming platform in need.
