GTA 6: 2 Red Dead Redemption 2 Easter Eggs Hidden in the Trailer

Rockstar hides clues and easter eggs, both in its games and in their promotion. GTA 6 is no exception, with two references to Red Dead Redemption 2 that even suggest the two games share the same universe.

GTA 6: Fans are reassured by thinking about Red Dead Redemption 2

The delay of GTA 6 has caused millions of players pain, but Rockstar has managed to heal the wounds by unveiling a second trailer that was highly anticipated. The proof: the trailer broke a record previously held by Deadpool & Wolverine. As expected, excitement for the next installment in Rockstar's flagship franchise is immense, but another game from the studio has also been generating a lot of buzz. While generally well-liked, the second trailer raised concerns among some fans, who regretted that it only contained cutscenes with no gameplay footage. Rockstar quickly clarified things by stating that there was indeed gameplay in the video, even specifying that it had been captured on a PlayStation 5. This statement reassured the most skeptical, but another element did so very well as well. Red Dead Redemption 2 has returned to the forefront as a model of success. The 2018 game still holds up graphically and, above all, was faithful to what the trailers promised, which gives us high hopes for GTA 6. Moreover, the links between the two titles seem to go deeper than just graphics.

References to Red Dead Redemption 2 in the GTA 6 trailer

The second trailer for GTA 6 has been analyzed from every angle. As previously mentioned: Rockstar loves to hide secrets, and this time it did it once again. Internet users have spotted two easter eggs related to Red Dead Redemption 2. We can see the faces of the game's fictional presidents on banknotes, as well as weapons made by Duke, a manufacturer well known to players.

The two franchises are used to making nods to each other. We're thinking in particular of the Red Dead book by J. Marston, the Epsilon cult present in both franchises, or even the streets referencing Red Dead Redemption in GTA V. Until now, these have only been simple references, but in the case of GTA 6, it could go further. Indeed, the two games could well share the same universe.

The only downside to this story is that in GTA, major cities like New York and Miami have fictitious names, unlike in Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar likes to muddy the waters on this subject. This wouldn't be a first, though: Manhunt and GTA already share a common universe, even if it's Rockstar's "3D universe." It remains to be seen whether the studio wants to do the same for its "HD universe." In any case, the second trailer for GTA 6 seems to point in that direction.
