Resident Evil 9 Requiem is already a hit before its release

Resident Evil 9 Requiem was one of the biggest surprises of Summer Game Fest 2025, and will remain one of the highlights of 2025 for fans of the franchise and survival horror in general. However, we still don't know anything about the game, beyond what Capcom has said. According to the publisher, it will be an "intense, blood-curdling experience" and will usher in a "new era of survival horror". Just that! What is certain is that this opus will be very different from the others, if only for the possibility of switching from a third-person view to a subjective view on the fly.

Already a big anticipation around Resident Evil 9 Requiem

For Koshi Nakanishi, director of Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 9 Requiem could become the fans' favorite episode, compared to some of the games he worked on like RE7 or RE Revelations. "Compared to Resident Evil 7 and Revelations, I think this title is the one that will make fans the happiest." While there are debates about the appearance of Grace Ashcroft, the character we play, the enthusiasm is definitely there, and this has been confirmed by the first feedback from the press - including ours.

But Resident Evil 9 Requiem is already a hit before its release and could well blow other games in the cult saga away if we rely on official Steam data. The license's X account has indeed revealed that more than 1 million players have added the game to their Steam wishlist. Of course, this is only a first indicator, but it shows the enormous anticipation surrounding this next game. But now, the hardest part remains to be done and getting to the best-selling titles will not be so easy. Here, for example, are the top three with figures updated in March 2025:

• Resident Evil 2 Remake: 15.4 million
• Resident Evil 7: 14.7 million
• Resident Evil Village: 11.3 million

If you're eagerly awaiting Resident Evil 9 Requiem, remember that it will be one of the big focuses of the June 2025 Capcom Spotlight, which will be held on June 26th starting at 11:59 p.m. (French time). With any luck, the publisher will broadcast the private presentation of Summer Game Fest 2025, or at least excerpts so that we can better judge the promise of this future installment.
