TikTok aims bigger than Meta: ByteDance unveils its costed plans to dominate the market

As Meta is launching new features across its social networks, including on Facebook, which had been neglected for a long time, it is largely to continue to attract new users, but above all to retain current users.

Indeed, faced with competition from other social networks like X (formerly Twitter), and more recently TikTok, the efforts required to remain competitive are considerable. With the popular Chinese social network gaining a growing number of users, its ambitions were not yet fully apparent.

However, recent information could well show the weight that TikTok, and more specifically its parent company ByteDance, intends to take in the coming years...

$186 billion in revenue in 2025?

With June fast approaching, the time has come for ByteDance investors to take stock. And if we could be sure of seeing the number of users grow on the social network TikTok, it is a recent Bloomberg article which sheds more light on this subject...

In the article by Zheping Huang and Min Jeong Lee published on May 16, an anonymous source close to ByteDance confirms ByteDance's desire to assert itself against Meta.

Indeed, the 2025 objective would be to reach $186 billion in turnover, a figure comparable to Meta with its $187 billion posted currently.

And while this figure may seem very fanciful, it remains very realistic when compared to previous years for ByteDance…

Annual growth of 20%

To justify this revenue figure, Bloomberg journalists relied in particular on data from previous years. The Chinese company is known for experiencing revenue growth of more than 20% year over year, reaching $155 billion last year.

With 4 billion active users every month on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, the social network now seems unstoppable. However, the latest geopolitical tensions could well slow TikTok's meteoric rise...

A goal undermined by the Trump administration?

While ByteDance now seems to have all the cards in hand to beat Meta, this challenge could well be doomed to failure in the coming weeks.

Indeed, on June 19, we should finally know more about the resale of TikTok, delayed twice by Donald Trump. With an uncertain outcome on this subject, the same goes for ByteDance's turnover...
