Warframe unveils its next update, with lots of new features

Organized in Boston from May 8th to 11th, PAX East was an opportunity for many developers to speak. Gearbox Software, for example, gave us an extended presentation of Borderlands 4, during which a lot of information about the game's gameplay and price was revealed. Digital Extremes took the opportunity to unveil the next big update for Warframe, its free-to-play shooter.

New content coming for Warframe

Named "The Island Web," this will allow players to discover the floating islands of Duviri in a whole new light. This includes the return of Major Neci Rusalka, which will be accompanied by the launch of Oraxia, the 61st Warframe. "Dominus Thrax is outwardly repelled, but inwardly terrified by the Chieftain and the Whisper's recent incursion into his territory," the studio says. "To expedite his swift expulsion from the Duviri Realm, Thrax is allowing the Tenno to use their Warframes for the first time outside of the Circuit." The goal will be to put an end to the Whisper's invasion before the Indifference can claim the floating islands for itself. Meanwhile, the hunter Oraxia, who has made Scholar's Landing her lair, attempts to trap anyone who ventures onto her turf. By avoiding the spider's trap, players will have the opportunity to earn Skimmer Shells, which can then be exchanged for blueprints for iconic Oraxia Warframe components and weapons.

Available in June

But that's not all. Digital Extremes also announced that "The Island Web" will bring some changes to the Valkyr. "Channel his rage in a whole new way by tearing your enemies apart!" say the developers, whose aim is to emphasize his savage berserker playstyle. There are plenty of new features, then, that Warframe players will be able to try starting next month, at a date that has yet to be determined. The studio, however, specifies that the information should be available "very soon".
