Which chip will Samsung choose to power its Galaxy Z Flip 7? Users are hoping for the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which has proven itself over the past few months, but fear that the Exynos 2500 will be favored.
Summer is coming! While for some, this means vacations, beaches, and sun, for others, including us, it mainly means that Samsung is about to launch its new foldable smartphone models. And like every year, there's a question mark: which chip will power the next Galaxy Z Flip?
Previous reports suggested that Samsung might opt for its in-house Exynos 2500 SoC. This is enough to make consumers grind their teeth, as Samsung's chips have struggled to perform well against Qualcomm's for many years. But leaker Jukanlosreve reassures us: according to his information, only the Galaxy Z Flip 7 sold in South Korea will be powered by an Exynos 2500. In all other countries, the smartphone would indeed have the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the most powerful mobile SoC of the moment (excluding Apple).
A Snapdragon 8 Elite chip for the European Galaxy Z Flip 7
This information comes as a relief for those who were considering purchasing a Galaxy Z Flip 7. The first leaked Exynos 2500 benchmarks suggest performance below that of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which also performs very well on the Galaxy S25 series mobiles.
For the rest, the Z Flip 7 should benefit from a battery with a slightly higher capacity than that of the Z Flip 6 (4,300 mAh compared to 4,000 mAh), which will translate hopefully with increased battery life. The new folding clamshell smartphone could also have a larger external screen, in order to catch up with competing models adopting the same format.
A Galaxy Unpacked conference is expected in early July. Samsung will present its Z Flip 7, its Z Fold 7, and possibly a more affordable Z Flip FE (which should be deprived of the Snapdragon 8 Elite). Galaxy Watch connected watches and Galaxy Buds wireless headphones should also be at the event.
Report: Samsung has decided to equip only the Korean version of the Z Flip 7 with the Exynos 2500, while models for North America and other regions will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy.https://t.co/rb0VTCcBjE
