The high-end tablet market welcomes a new major contender with the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra. The Chinese giant, known for its aggressive price-performance ratio, is making a strong impact with this large-format model.
The first thing that strikes you about the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra is its 14-inch OLED screen, with a 3.2K resolution (3200 x 2136 pixels). This XXL panel is accompanied by a maximum brightness of 1600 nits, promising good visibility even in direct sunlight. Xiaomi has also focused on visual comfort, with anti-glare treatments and uniform light diffusion. This panel, which is designed for entertainment, work or creation, supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
The heart of the beast: an intriguing in-house Xring O1 chip
Under its ultra-thin chassis of only 5.1 mm and its weight of 609 grams, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra hides a real revolution: the Xiaomi Xring O1. This 3 nm SoC is the first chip developed internally by Xiaomi for its tablets. It boasts performance worthy of the best high-end smartphones, with ten CPU cores (including two 3.9 GHz CPU cores), a 16-core GPU and a 6-core NPU (Neural Processing Unit) dedicated to artificial intelligence, while ensuring excellent energy efficiency.
Beyond its technical prowess, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra positions itself as a tablet focused on productivity. Thanks to Xiaomi HyperOS 2, with its tablet-optimized interface, it offers intelligent multitasking features, seamless integration between Xiaomi ecosystem devices, and AI-assisted functions. The tablet is designed to transform into a portable workstation, making you forget about a PC.
Features designed to replace a PC
To complete this “PC-like” experience, Xiaomi unveils a dedicated magnesium alloy keyboard. This keyboard offers comfortable key travel, full backlighting, and a large haptic touchpad with support for multi-touch gestures, reminiscent of a laptop experience. A magnetic, rechargeable stylus on the edge completes the ecosystem, opening the door to note-taking and drawing.
The Pad 7 Ultra doesn’t skimp on connectivity, integrating Wi-Fi 7 for very fast transfer speeds. On the power side, its 12,000 mAh battery, despite the device's slimness, is compatible with 120W HyperCharge fast charging, allowing for a full charge in record time. Initial tests by Xiaomi Labs indicate a battery life of up to 18.95 hours of continuous video playback. Standby time can reach 61 days, even climbing to 528 days in ultra-power saving mode.
For photo and video, it has a 32 MP ultra-wide-angle front camera and a 50 MP rear camera. The audio experience is provided by an eight-speaker system delivering a peak power of 150W.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra arrives in China in Misty Purple and Classic Black colors, starting at 5,699 yuan. This is equivalent to around 700 euros excluding tax.
While the different configurations (up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage) and screen options (classic glass or anti-reflective finish) are already known, no international launch date has been announced yet. We are waiting to see if Xiaomi will choose to export this ambitious model to Western markets, where competition is fierce.
