Airbnb is undergoing a revolution: the peer-to-peer rental app is announcing a series of new features in addition to a revamped app. In light of these changes, the firm is rolling out a new design for its mobile app, but new premium services are also coming, such as cooking services or messages for truly unforgettable stays.
Private rentals have never looked so much like professional hospitality. Since 2007, Airbnb has successfully attracted 2 billion travelers, while allowing many people to maximize the return on their real estate assets. Over time, Airbnb has become part of the landscape, with an increasingly professional offering that some, in the traditional hotel industry, readily describe as a new form of competition.
On the traveler side, expectations have also become higher, with hosts rated more rigorously and more refined stay proposals. In this context, Airbnb is diversifying its offering with the launch of Airbnb Services and Airbnb Experiences. Two new facets of the platform that now allow the inclusion of premium services in stays intended to transform travel into something even more exceptional.
How Airbnb is further reinventing its business by adding personal services
Through the first new platform, dedicated to services, it will be possible to add services provided by local players. Such as a meal cooked by a chef, accompaniment by a dedicated photographer, messages, spa treatments, sports or yoga training. Or even a hairdressing session, makeup, new nails and catering (offering meal deliveries).
Airbnb Experience is more about offering local cultural visits and experiences: museum visits, culinary city tours, diving, shopping sessions, afternoons dedicated to beauty... All these services will be rated by travelers, as they can already do for their accommodation. The best and most exclusive packages will be branded Airbnb Originals.
These new services are available now via a major update to the mobile app. To take advantage of them, simply navigate, under the search field, to the Experiences and Services tabs. It's as simple as that!
