As the summer conference ball begins, one big unknown remains: will PlayStation be there or not? While some rumors might suggest no, others, on the contrary, seem increasingly insistent that a State of Play or PlayStation Showcase-style conference could ultimately be in the works. And while Sony hasn't officially made a decision on the matter yet, we now have confirmation that announcements are coming.
PlayStation announcements are coming, a State of Play soon?
Indeed, earlier this week, Geoff Keighley, as he does every year, revealed all the partners who will be present at his Summer Game Fest. This involves more than sixty companies, which represents a new record according to the event's presenter. And right in the middle of this list populated by prestigious and beloved names by gamers is PlayStation, which thus confirms that at least one of its games will be present at the June 6 conference, while rumors surrounding a State of Play are growing.
Be careful, however, we prefer to warn you: this does not necessarily mean that we can expect major announcements in abundance. In fact, as things stand, there is even a good chance that we will only be treated to a new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which will be released on June 26. Moreover, this seems all the more likely since Hideo Kojima has already announced his presence at his good friend Geoff Keighley's event, in addition to having recently confirmed that he is working on a new trailer. But what about a State of Play?
See you at Summer Game Fest
We might not be immune to a surprise or two from PlayStation either. After all, Summer Game Fest 2025 spans several days and also includes individual speeches from various major players. It could also be an opportunity for the Japanese firm to highlight some of its announced games, such as Ghost of Yotei, Marathon, or Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, for example, during a State of Play. According to Jeff Grubb, the publisher was still hesitating between a PlayStation Showcase and a smaller event until recently. For the rest, it's probably best not to get your hopes up too much, or you'll be seriously disappointed. Especially since otherwise, the surprise will be even more pleasant. See you in a week to find out!
