If OpenAI had already surprised with its last communication campaign which featured Sam Altman and Jony Ive, it is now the eviction of Sam Altman which could be the subject of a "real" film this time.
Indeed, if the exclusion of the current CEO of OpenAI was only a matter of a few days, this story has generated a lot of interest, and more particularly among Hollywood studios...
"Artificial", the first film about Sam Altman
After Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, it is therefore a biographical film about Sam Altman which is in preparation. Directed by Luca Guadagnino according to information from the newspaper The Hollywood Reporter, the casting of the film would even already be ready. He had already distinguished himself in other films like "Call Me By Your Name" and "Challengers".
Simply titled "Artificial", the film should be produced by MGM, which is none other than a subsidiary of Amazon. However, according to information revealed by the press, the film should not retrace the life of Sam Altman, but focus on his ouster in November 2023, before returning to lead OpenAI.
While this story might only interest a handful of techies, the behind-the-scenes look at this episode in the history of OpenAI should allow us to learn more about this landmark event for artificial intelligence.
Who will play the role of Sam Altman?
According to Borys Kit, journalist for The Hollywood Reporter, actors are also in discussions with MGM for the filming of the film.
Andrew Garfield could play Sam Altman, known for having played in The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Social Network which presented the history of Facebook. Among the other actors in the cast, even if they are not officially engaged, other names are expected, even if none of them have yet confirmed having accepted an offer.
Alongside Andrew Garfield, we could therefore find Monica Barbaro (A Perfect Stranger) to play Mira Murati, and the Russian actor Yura Borisov (Anora) to play the role of Ilya Sutskever.
Filming as early as this summer?
While this is only a simple rumor for the moment, the first scenes of "Artificial" could well be filmed in the coming weeks, between the United States, in San Francisco, but also in Italy.
Beyond the first filming dates which are becoming clearer, we also know that The film is reportedly being produced by David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford of Heyday Films. However, this is still highly speculative, and none of the people involved have confirmed or denied the information. The story remains to be seen...
