Anthropic CEO warns: AI could eliminate 50% of youth jobs by 2030

In recent months, analyses surrounding artificial intelligence and jobs have continued to multiply. Last March, Bill Gates already declared that artificial intelligence would put an end to work by 2035.

More recently, a UN (United Nations) report even mentioned job losses three times greater among women in the near future because of AI.

But while the studies and various statements we have read so far remain to be confirmed, the latest statement from Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, shows that younger people are not spared...

50% of jobs lost among young people

In a recent interview stated to Axios, the CEO of Anthropic repeatedly returned to the impacts of artificial intelligence on employment. And despite the fact that he is a stakeholder in AI, he did not hesitate to warn about the dangers of this technology.

According to his analysis, 50% of jobs are expected to be eliminated among the youngest, with a catastrophic consequence for unemployment figures. Indeed, having observed the progress made in artificial intelligence over the past ten years, the CEO of Anthropic states that while the level of AI was that of a high school student in recent years, it has now reached the level of a student.

By 2030, Dario Amodei estimates that the unemployment rate in the United States could even reach 10% to 20%, compared to 4.2% in April 2025. If this trend continues on the American continent, it should be similar in Europe.

A shake-up in the labor market?

If Dario Amodei's observations prove correct, the consequences on jobs should have a massive impact on employment. In another statement for Fox News, he stated that sectors such as finance, technology, and consulting could be particularly affected.

This profound change in the labor market could also impact education, with new professions that will no longer resemble those we know today.

A lack of action from legislators

While Dario Amodei claims that his competitors such as OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft are preparing for these profound changes in society without speaking out publicly, he believes that the danger is too great to be ignored.

In his intervention on Fox News, he particularly regretted the fact that Legislators have not yet taken the subject seriously, and suggest that politicians measure the impacts on AI now.
