Berserk fans have never been closer to seeing their dream come true

Berserk fans have never been closer to seeing their dream come true

This June is a particularly busy month for Berserk, between the release of the prestige edition and the publication of two new chapters. And if that already seemed like a lot, the news surrounding the manga doesn't stop there. Indeed, something that all fans have been waiting for for a long time was recently teased.

Berserk Quietly Continues Its Adventure

Berserk has never really been regular in its publication, and the tragic loss of Kentaro Miura has only reinforced this irregularity. While the work could have remained unfinished, Koji Mori and Studio Gaga have taken up the torch to ensure its conclusion. Berserk is moving at its own pace, but moving forward all the same. Despite this, the manga remains more relevant than ever and continues to generate excitement, even in the absence of an anime.

The anime Berserk is a delicate subject. Since the highly criticized 2016 adaptation, no one has dared to try the experiment again, at least among professionals. Studio Eclypse has taken up the challenge with Berserk: The Black Swordsman, the first two episodes of which are available on YouTube. However, the ultimate adaptation of the manga is still awaited. Perhaps it will arrive one day, and why not on Netflix.

Berserk could soon return as an anime

Berserk is one of those mangas that are much better than their anime adaptations, and we hope that one day the level of quality will finally live up to the original work. To achieve this, it may be necessary for the West to take it on. This is in any case the wish of Adi Shankar, the producer of Castlevania and Devil May Cry on Netflix, who hinted on X that he would like to adapt Berserk, and, better than that, that he will do it in 6 months.

In 6 months, I will reimagine Berserk according to my VISION!!!!

Adi Shankar is such a beloved personality controversial. While Castlevania was well-received, Devil May Cry, on the other hand, was criticized for straying too far from the source material. Regarding Berserk, he seems to be taking a similar approach, as his tweets suggest. Could this necessarily be a bad thing? Faithful adaptations have never really convinced, perhaps a more personal vision could finally work. In any case, Adi Shankar seems motivated, as this is not the first time he has expressed his desire to adapt Berserk. In an interview with Comicbook.com, he explained how he would go about it, combining respect for Kentaro Miura's themes with personal additions. It remains to be seen whether this project will ever come to fruition, even though the producer is very confident. For our part, we would be curious to see the result. What do you think?
