Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was announced very late this year, but the game is now official. The final release date is unknown at the time of writing. However, we do know that this installment will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in 2025. Details are scarce so far, but franchise director Matt Cox has clarified the narrative context. "The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos. Ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. Armed with cutting-edge technology, David Mason and his team must fight against a manipulative enemy who uses fear as their ultimate weapon."
The Call of Duty Black Ops 7 single-player campaign is already displeasing
As we can read, David Mason and "his team" will be at the heart of Call of Duty Black Ops 7. And if we believe Vondyispog on X, other elements have been revealed beforehand. According to the user, the players would embody "unnamed soldiers" handpicked by Mason. It is said that certain missions could allow the squad leader to play as David, while the others would take control of "other characters to be determined". If a squad leader is mentioned, it is because this single-player is playable in cooperation.
These new leaks about the Call of Duty Black Ops 7 campaign are already annoying players and are proving to be a nasty surprise. "Nameless characters are lame"; "So, I'm not interested in the campaign"; "It kills the buzz, but at least David Mason will have some screen time"; "They need to stop with this silent soldier gimmick, frankly, it's what prevented me from enjoying the two previous Black Ops campaigns"; "So, the hype is killed after only 12 hours" can be read in the reactions.
If these leaks are to be believed, Call of Duty Black Ops 7's campaign characters would be customizable to some extent, much like Black Ops 3. Additionally, there would still be the option to purchase upgrades for equipment, with new additions and features. Finally, the hideout would also make a return in the next game.
