It's not you or your computer: Google is well and truly in trouble tonight. Just about every service is experiencing slowdowns, all over the world, according to DownDetector. The search engine is churning in semolina, just like Gmail, Google Cloud, Chat, Drive, Maps, Gemini, Google Pay…
It's impossible to know what's going on at the moment, but we can safely bet that Google engineers are on the job to tighten the screws. It's quite rare to see Google and its services go down like this; the web giant is usually pretty good at keeping its infrastructure on a tight leash.
We'll be monitoring this closely, and we'll update this news as soon as Google's services return to normal.
Update 9:45 PM — A good portion of the internet is actually down tonight. Spotify, Discord, AWS (Amazon Web Services), Snapchat, Cloudflare, Etsy, and even Pokémon TCG Live (!) are all down. Who pulled the plug? We won't know, not right away at least, but at least it's giving us a break.
Update 11 PM — Things seem to be slowly getting back to normal. Cloudflare announces that all of its services are back to normal. It's still chaos at Google, but things are improving since earlier this evening.
