Apple continues to overhaul its systems with macOS Tahoe, announced during the WWDC 2025 conference. This version adopts the new “Liquid Glass” design, already seen in iOS 26 and iPadOS 26. Inspired by the Vision Pro headset, this style gives menus, icons and windows a dynamic transparency effect. It’s one of the biggest visual changes on Mac since macOS Big Sur. Users will also be able to customize the interface with colors that match the wallpaper.

macOS Tahoe isn’t just about looks. Apple is introducing a new Phone app, directly connected to the iPhone via Continuity. It lets you make calls, listen to voicemails, or even follow Live Activities, like the arrival of an Uber, from the menu bar. At the same time, Spotlight search is receiving its most significant update to date. It becomes a true application launcher, capable of suggesting actions and linking with mirrored iOS apps.

macOS Tahoe 26 transforms Spotlight into a true intelligent control center

With this update, Spotlight allows you to directly execute actions such as sending a message or taking a note, without leaving the current app. The results are automatically sorted by relevance, and keyboard shortcuts allow you to go even faster. It's a real evolution towards more productive use, even for advanced users. Additionally, Apple Intelligence features are integrated into Messages, FaceTime, and Reminders, with real-time translations and new AI-driven options.

Apple is also launching a new app dedicated to games: Apple Games. It brings together the library of installed titles, allows you to start a game, invite friends, or adjust settings thanks to an integrated Game Overlay. Developers also benefit from Metal 4, an improved version of the graphics API, with tools to smoother the display. macOS Tahoe 26 is available in developer beta, and will arrive this fall on all Apple Silicon Macs and select Intel Macs with the T2 chip.
