In early June 2025, CD Projekt RED announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would finally soon receive a major new update and move to version 2.3, a few weeks after the substantial 2.2 patch that was supposed to mark the end of its support. According to the latest news, this version change was supposed to take place during the week. However, the Polish studio has just released an announcement to dampen the enthusiasm of the Night City mercs.
Change of plans for the next major update of Cyberpunk 2077
While waiting for The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 in the coming years, CD Projekt RED finally had plans for the now very popular Cyberpunk 2077. Officially, the title is due to receive yet another major update shortly after the Ultimate Edition released to accompany the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. At the same time, it is also possible that V and Johnny will be entitled to a new adventure in the form of an expansion from Virtuos, while Phantom Liberty was supposed to be the game's one and only DLC.
Regarding Cyberpunk 2077's 2.3 update, it was supposed to arrive this June 26th on all platforms. Unfortunately, CD Projekt RED has just sent out new warnings to all the mercs of Night City. "We were hoping to get Update 2.3 into your hands on June 26th. However, we need more time to make sure you're happy with it. It's expected to be on the same scale as Update 2.2. We'll keep you updated as soon as possible, and we appreciate your patience!."
So, we'll have to come back to Night City another day to see what Cyberpunk 2077's Update 2.3 has in store for us. We still have no clear idea what it will add, other than the fact that it's expected to be as colossal and impactful as the previous one. So move along, chooms, until we see what the real deal is.
