Unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, the new game from the creators of SIFU has certainly surprised more than one. Leaving aside the art of kung-fu that propelled the French studio into the spotlight three years ago, Rematch now intends to offer a new vision of online football, with a very arcade experience reminiscent of a certain Rocket League. And clearly, this explosive cocktail seems to be widely appealing to players since the title is not even out yet and it is already recording record results, better than EA FC 25.
Rematch is already a hit before its release
Indeed, just a few cables away from its launch, Rematch has offered itself a final beta, which kicked off on May 28 at 2 p.m. And with over 2.5 million registered players according to the studio, there's no doubt that the public responded. Naturally, however, not everyone was able to access Rematch. And yet, this didn't stop it from achieving exceptional results on Steam, where it managed to reach the top 10 with games like Helldivers 2 and Marvel Rivals in less than 24 hours.
Even more impressive, with a peak of 146,573 players recorded on the day of its launch, the final beta of Rematch has already surpassed giants of the genre like EA Sports FC and FIFA previously. For example, FIFA 23, which has achieved the franchise's highest scores on Steam in recent years, only peaked at 110,878 players, while the latest installment, EA FC 25, reached "only" 110,026 players. Suffice to say that this only bodes well for the future of Sloclap's game, then.
A game designed to last
Available until Saturday, May 31 at 2 p.m., the Rematch beta currently allows players who have obtained access to test three of the game modes planned for the title: the 5v5 mode, the 4v4 mode, and finally the 3v3 mode, which is a new feature of this final beta. Moreover, if you are on PS5, know that the studio has announced that it is no longer necessary to wait for an invitation to be able to participate. However, access remains limited for the Steam and Xbox versions.
That said, those who won't have the chance to participate can rest assured: the game's release is now imminent. Rematch will arrive on June 19th on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC for €24.99. It will also be included in the Xbox Game Pass catalog. And if you needed an additional reason to check out, know that Sloclap has shared its intention to keep the game going at a steady pace.
