Fairphone, the Dutch company behind the eponymous smartphone line, could launch a new product in the coming weeks. Several leaks already reveal a release date, a price, and even the first signs of a spec sheet. Here's everything we know.
In 2023, after two years of development, the Fairphone 5 was released. This smartphone retained the philosophy of its predecessor. The design is modular to facilitate its repairability. Indeed, the shell is easy to open. The various daughter cards are attached with simple screws. The battery is easily removed. Even the screen and some ports can be swapped out.

This design is obviously accompanied by spare parts being made available through an online store. And, because smartphone maintenance isn't just hardware-related, Android updates were guaranteed for 8 years at the launch of the Fairphone 5, compared to 7 years for previous versions. The goal of the brand, born in the Netherlands, is to create a slightly more "eco-responsible" technology product: less technological waste, greater durability, less factory manufacturing, etc.
The Fairphone 6 will arrive at the end of June 2025 at a much more affordable price
Two years have passed since the release of the Fairphone 5. And numerous leaks claim that everything is almost ready for a renewal. Rumors come from our Dutch colleagues Nieuwemobiel and Roland Quandt, journalist/leaker at Winfuture. The new model would simply be called Fairphone 6. Several additional pieces of information have been revealed. First, the release date: the phone should be made official on June 25, 2025. That's in less than three weeks.
Then, the price. The Fairphone 6 would be priced at 550 euros, give or take a cent. That's the price of a very decent mid-range smartphone. And it's a lot lower than the Fairphone 4 (which launched at 700 euros). The configuration (or one of the versions) offered would be equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The Fairphone 5 came with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. There might only be one configuration this year. Three colors would be offered: black, white, and green. Other colors could also be released. You can see its face below:
On the photo side, an equivalent duo of sensors is expected: a jack-of-all-trades main sensor and an ultra-wide-angle sensor for panoramas and macros. The design will remain modular, and many parts of the smartphone will be replaceable: front and rear camera sensors, connectors, screen, speaker, battery, etc. The RAM, storage, and processor remain impossible to change. There are still many elements to discover in this future Fairphone 6. See you on June 25, according to the leaks, to find out everything about it.
