Samsung is reportedly not ready to release the successor to its Galaxy Ring this year. The second generation is reportedly only just beginning its development. Fans of health-tracking devices will have to wait.
For some time now, connected objects have been taking on increasingly discreet forms. Bracelets, glasses, rings: brands are looking to offer alternatives to watches for tracking health and physical activity. Among them, Samsung recently launched its first Galaxy Ring, a smart ring designed to compete with traditional bracelets. Compact and lightweight, it is primarily aimed at users who want passive fitness tracking without a wrist screen.
While many users were already waiting for a new version, a report from the Netherlands indicates that the development of the Galaxy Ring 2 has just begun. According to information published by Galaxy Club, the project is still in its early stages, making a release before 2026 unlikely. The presentation planned for last January alongside the Galaxy S25 ultimately never took place, and since then, Samsung has remained silent on the subject.
The Galaxy Ring 2 would not be ready before 2026
The first Galaxy Ring was unveiled in early 2024 and marked Samsung's entry into the smart ring sector. Its second generation was expected for the end of 2025, or even the fall. But the latest information completely contradicts this timetable. According to the first leaks, the product is still in the design phase, which means that no finalized prototype has been validated to date. We will therefore have to wait several more months before seeing a model ready for the market.
However, rumors suggest notable improvements: a slimmer design, better battery life depending on the size, and new health-related functions, probably boosted by artificial intelligence. The ring could include improved heart rate monitoring, better sleep tracking, and more precise data on physical activity. For now, nothing has been confirmed. It is possible that the Galaxy Ring 2 will be unveiled in January 2026 at the same time as the Galaxy S26. In the meantime, the first generation remains one of the few compact connected solutions on the market.
