Artificial intelligence is gradually becoming a part of our everyday tools, and Google is accelerating its integration into its services. While Gemini is already present in the web version of Drive or Gmail, its presence on mobile remained limited. This is now changing. The company is announcing the arrival of AI directly in the Google Docs app on Android. The goal is to save users time, particularly when reading or writing documents from a smartphone or tablet. Specifically, a new icon appears in the top right corner of Google Docs. As with Gmail, simply tap it to open a panel at the bottom of the screen. The user can then choose an action such as “summarize this document” or ask a free question, such as “what are the conclusions?” Gemini can also draft a text from a few words. Some features remain reserved for the web version, such as image generation or advanced style suggestions.

Gemini on Android can summarize or generate text without leaving Google Docs

With this new feature, Google is targeting all those who use their mobile to work quickly: students, journalists, professionals on the go... No need to read everything or type an entire text by hand. Gemini can condense the essential, formulate ideas or correct a poorly structured sentence. The interface is designed to remain simple, without leaving the application or juggling between several tools. For example, after receiving a long working document, simply type a sentence like “write a report on the points discussed regarding the launch of this product” to automatically obtain a structured summary, ready to be completed or shared. The rollout began on June 9, 2025, and will continue until July 2. Gemini is available on Android devices from version 8. The AI supports more than 20 languages, including French. It is reserved for Google Workspace subscribers (Business and Enterprise) as well as Gemini Education plans. Free Google accounts are not eligible.
