Apple is not immune to criticism. Already under fire from Samsung and Microsoft for recently announced new software releases, it's Google's turn to add another layer.
“It feels like we've been there before…”. In a new ad, Google doesn't hold back from gently poking fun at Apple, which announced with great fanfare at WWDC that iOS 26 would be getting three features... already available for some time on Android and its Pixel smartphones.
The video features a conversation between an iPhone and a Pixel. The Apple smartphone is surprised that people think its new features are copied from Android's, and mentions "coincidences". “I announced live text message translation,” the iPhone explains, to which the Pixel replies that “it turns out they already had it four years ago.”.
After Samsung and Microsoft, Google mocks Apple
Both devices mention Hold Assist, which allows you to be notified when you are put on hold, instead of staying attentive and hoping that an agent will take care of you. The system detects the typical hold music that is played in these cases and starts automatically. The Pixel reminds the iPhone that it has been capable of this for five years.
Finally, Call Screening is mentioned. A caller who is not in your contact list must specify their identity and the purpose of their call, information then entered on the screen. The user can then choose whether or not to answer the call with full knowledge of the facts. A very practical option for combating cold calling, present on Pixels for seven years.
The video ends with the iPhone asking, “just out of curiosity”, what the plans are for the Pixel 10, implying that Apple will continue to copy Google. It should be noted, however, that these features are often available in the United States initially from Google. It is not yet known if Apple will offer them in France from launch.
Google is not the only one to attack Apple. Microsoft compared macOS 26 to Windows Vista for the new interface's glass effects, while Samsung noted that iOS 26's AI features weren't particularly innovative.
