While the official presentation of the Google Pixel 10 is expected for the end of August, leaks are piling up around the next generation of Google smartphones. While the design remains unchanged, technical and software adjustments could refine the user experience in several areas.
A faster fingerprint reader for the Google Pixel 10
With the Pixel 9, Google introduced an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for the first time. The Pixel 10 is expected to go even further. According to Android Headlines, a new, even faster sensor is on the cards. Still based on ultrasonic technology, this reader is said to be more reliable than optical versions, even in difficult conditions when using the device with wet fingers or in direct sunlight.
The Pixel 10s would also be the first to integrate Magic Cue, an AI-based smart assistant designed to anticipate user actions. Specifically, it could offer contextual shortcuts based on your usage and application activity. Performance-wise, the Tensor G5 chip is also mentioned, as well as an improved image stabilization system for photos and videos.
Macro photography using the zoom
The Pixel 10 could introduce a telemacro function, which uses the telephoto sensor for extreme close-up shots. The idea isn't entirely new; OPPO and OnePlus have already experimented with it, but it's a first for Google. The ultra-wide angle, which was previously used for macro photos, would still retain this capability for very close subjects, the telephoto lens having a longer minimum focusing distance.
You will probably have to buy a case
Android Authority was able to test a prototype protective case for the Pixel 10 Pro. Result: the Pixel 9 Pro fits in it, but without a perfect fit. Several elements show that the design remains similar, but not identical, as you can see in the video below.

The camera bar, for example, is said to be slightly wider, which would make the cases incompatible between the two generations. The Pixel 10 is also expected to feature two speaker openings at the bottom of the phone (compared to just one previously), and the SIM card tray would move up to the top edge. In other words, users will likely have to invest in new accessories, even if the overall dimensions of the smartphone are very close...
