Dexter Morgan is back in action, four years after his last adventures. The character played by Michael C. Hall doesn't want to die, and Showtime is determined to capitalize on his popularity for as long as possible. With Resurrection—a rather apt title for the character who's in the Grim Reaper's good books—they'll be offering a sequel to the grand finale of New Blood. Clyde Phillips, who has been the writer of the universe since season 1, will remain on the script. After some enigmatic teasers, it's finally time for the American network to lift the veil on the plot. The synopsis confirms that the story will begin when Dexter wakes up after his altercation with his son. After being shot, Dexter is determined to make things right. “Recognizing the weight of what he did to his son, Dexter heads to New York, determined to find him and make things right. But turning the page won’t be easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is quickly catching up with him.” He will, however, attract the attention of a strange character. With the help of his henchwoman, played by Uma Thurman, he will bring together several murderers. His motives remain a mystery, will he start a small club? Opposite Michael C. Hall, we will also find Jack Alcott (Harrison Morgan) and Krysten Ritter (Mia). Eric Stonestreet and David Dastmalchian will also be part of the cast. They will play Al and Gareth respectively.
A nice cast for this project that already promises to attract many attentions. A few months after the broadcast of Dexter: Origins, Resurrection confirms that the series inspired by the novel by Jeff Lindsay still has a bright future ahead of it. It will hit American screens on July 11. We can expect it to be offered a few weeks later in France, via Paramount+. As a reminder, we had to wait almost two months for The Origins last February.
