In the absence of new chapters, how about a brand new fighting game? Hunter x Hunter may be suffering from increasingly irregular releases – not a single chapter since last December, despite the restart – Yoshihiro Togashi's work is still getting a new video game adaptation that will keep fans hungry for something new occupied. But for this game too, we had to wait. Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact was unveiled for the very first time at Jump Fest in December 2023. Initially scheduled for 2024, the title was finally pushed back to 2025 to integrate better netcode for online games, a laudable decision to say the least.
But now the wait is over. The fighting game developed by specialist Arc System Works will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch from July 17th. But with pre-order prices set at €59.99 for the standard version and €74.99 for the deluxe version, you're probably wondering if this Hunter x Hunter game is worth the money. And the developers are likely aware of these concerns, as a demo version of the title has recently been available on one of the platforms.
How to play the demo of Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact?
If you didn't know already, the trial version of the game has been available for free on Steam since May 30th. While waiting for the official release of the full title, PC players can download a demo to get to grips with certain characters and game modes. By downloading the free demo from the game's Steam page, it is already possible to take part in 3-on-3 battles in Versus and Training modes with the following characters:
- Gon
- Killua
- Leorio
- Kurapika
- Hisoka
- Netero
As a reminder, the final version of the game will include ten other cult heroes and antagonists, including Biscuit, Meruem, and Kuroro. A first season pass of 4 additional characters has also been announced, with Neferpitou in the lead role.
Unfortunately, the demo version of Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is only available on PC at the time of writing. The studio is nevertheless preparing a PS5 version which will be “available soon” without further details. Only Nintendo Switch players will have to be patient until launch. Furthermore, Arc System Works has not communicated about possible performance improvements on Nintendo Switch 2.
