Is Star Wars Jedi 3 also in danger? Its studio is in dire straits

Recently, Electronic Arts has been witnessing a tragic disaster. To everyone's surprise, the American giant recently canceled a Black Panther game in development, following a series of layoffs and studio closures. Respawn Entertainment was one of the main targets, although this apparently didn't impact the highly anticipated Star Wars Jedi 3. However, the recent situation at its publisher could further affect the studio, according to one of its senior developers.

Will Star Wars Jedi 3 survive Electronic Arts' Order 66?

At the end of April, Respawn Entertainment saw 100 of its employees leave amid a wave of layoffs of 300 to 400 people within the studios under the control of Electronic Arts. The studio assured us at the time that Star Wars Jedi 3 would not be impacted by the situation. A month later, however, we learned of the tragic closure of the Cliffhanger Games studio, and therefore the outright cancellation of a Black Panther game in development there. In this climate of uncertainty, developers under the control of Electronic Arts are clearly going through a particularly stressful time.

Following the announcement of Cliffhanger Games' closure, Patrick Wren, senior developer for Star Wars Jedi Survivor, had this to say on his official BlueSky account. "Morale within the studio is at its lowest." More than ever, Electronic Arts seems to want to tighten the screws and focus on its most lucrative licenses. Apparently, Star Wars Jedi 3 would be one of them.

However, it's easy to understand why his studio is going to work with fear in its stomach, while news of layoffs within Electronic Arts appears to be breaking every month. The low morale of these developers could also affect the production of Star Wars Jedi 3 in one way or another, despite Respawn Entertainment's promises. For these new adventures of Cal Kestis, we should expect an even more grandiose game "in terms of narrative and gameplay." In any case, we wish the best possible continuation for his studio, and all the others belonging to Electronic Arts.
