Kingsman on TMC: Where is the third film with Taron Egerton?

TMC is highlighting Matthew Vaughn's filmography. Kingsman: The Golden Circle airs on Channel 9 this Monday. While Matthew Vaugh has been promising a third film for years, since the release of The Golden Circle in 2017, should we fear that the project will never see the light of day? Where does it stand? We take stock.

The script is still being written (according to the latest news)

It's been 8 years now that Eggsy and Harry have been off the radar. Matthew Vaughn, who has since devoted himself to other projects, is not finished with them and has been working on a sequel. According to him, things are moving in the right direction. In the midst of a promotional campaign for Argylle, his action comedy starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell, he explained to Collider in 2024 that the writing isn't finished. He specified that, while the first and last acts are complete, he still needs to refine the second with Jane Goldman.

The story should therefore be about concluding their shared adventures, offering them a proper farewell. We can hope that everyone comes out unscathed, that Eggsy can see his mentor retire and continue to climb the ladder in the small world of espionage. Obviously, nothing has been confirmed on this subject for the moment. We only know that the project is being developed under the code name The Blue Blood, probably in reference to a royal lineage.

As a reminder, in the second film, Eggsy had a relationship with Princess Tilde. Just before the credits rolled, viewers discovered that the spy had decided to marry this member of the Swedish royal family. Will the spy be carrying out a high-risk mission within his in-laws? It's still too early to know.

Who will be in the cast?

It's hard to imagine a return of Kingsman to the cinema without its two stars: Taron Egerton and Colin Firth. Vaugh's recent statements leave no room for doubt: both actors will be on board. The identity of those who will face them remains a mystery. However, we can say with (almost) certainty that some actors from previous films should not be invited. This goes for Mark Strong, whose character met a tragic end. The same goes for Sophie Cookson, who played Roxy, aka Lancelot. However, nothing rules out the return of some members of the Statesmen, such as Ginger Alle, played by Halle Berry, or Agent Tequila, played by Channing Tatum.

When is it coming?

Fans of unusual spy stories will still have to be patient. Neither 20th Century Studios nor Marv Films have announced a release date. Worse, the boss of 20th Century has dampened the enthusiasm of even the most impatient viewers. He told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024: There are no plans to do it in the near future.” It must be said that the director suffered a significant failure with Argylle at Apple Studios and that The King’s Man: First Mission was not a resounding success either. However, Vaughn had great ambitions for his spy duo. For the moment, things are looking rather scorched.
