The one and only fully Nintendo-branded game currently available as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World looks set to be another hit. Many players have indeed rushed to buy this game to accompany their newly acquired console, and it didn't take long for some to discover a clever nod to one of the Big N's greatest monuments.
A tribute to a Nintendo monument discovered in Mario Kart World
Mario Kart World players have indeed discovered a major secret hidden in the game, just a few days after its release. This new installment in Nintendo's iconic franchise, and the first mainline game of its kind since the Big N's all-time best-seller, Mario Kart 8, was released last week alongside the Nintendo Switch 2. In fact, it's currently the only notable major exclusive on the Nintendo Switch 2. And while it's sadly lacking in content, it does have its fair share of secrets and surprises.
For example, Mario Kart World's Free Roam mode is playable in Mirror Mode, thanks to a secret related to Nintendo's absolute masterpiece, Super Mario 64. In Free Roam mode, if players collide with Princess Peach's stained-glass window in her castle, the map goes from Free Roam mode to Mirror Mode entirely. Nintendo hasn't demonstrated or even hinted at this phenomenon before.
If you try to crash into the window without unlocking Mirror Mode first, you'll find that nothing happens. Indeed, to discover this secret in Mario Kart World, you must first unlock Mirror Mode. To better illustrate this, you can check out the video below, courtesy of Stealth40k on X.com.
