Some may not realize it yet, but Big N is about to launch its new console, the Nintendo Switch 2. That's right! By this Thursday, June 5, 2025, those who pre-ordered the machine will be able to receive it and already plan a weekend with friends to compete in joy and, above all, bad faith on Mario Kart World. Nevertheless, the current Nintendo Switch has not yet said its last word and the manufacturer is not going to abandon its more than 152 million users overnight. A new update is available and here is what changes.
The Nintendo Switch update of June 3, 2025 available
The Nintendo Switch is not ready to say goodbye just yet. Despite its replacement arriving this week, at least two very big games are expected on the current console: Pokemon ZA and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. Obviously, it's also a good opportunity for anyone who doesn't have the machine to get it second-hand to discover the entire game library available. While waiting for everyone to switch to the next-gen from Big N, the manufacturer is taking care of its current console.
Last week, the Nintendo Switch received a 20.1.0 update that brought visual adjustments to the parental controls menu, a new sound effect for the Nintendo Switch Online HOME menu, and an overall improvement in system stability.
Today, Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the console is getting firmware 20.1.1 that won't disrupt the experience for most players, but should be very useful for a game. While the Nintendo Switch 20.1.1 patch is very lightweight, especially compared to firmware 20.0.0, it does fix a bug where some software programs had trouble starting up. This issue first appeared after the previous version, 20.1.0.
