After four years of existence, PowerWash Simulator is preparing to bow out with a final update. The British studio FuturLab, behind the game, officially announced on May 30 the release of The Muckingham Files 6, the latest free additional content for the high-pressure cleaning simulator. Among the new areas to scrub is a subway train inspired by the famous London Underground, which serves as a nod to the British capital's iconic urban environment.
Launched in early access in 2021, then in its full version the following year, PowerWash Simulator quickly established itself as an atypical relaxation game. Its simple concept, which consists of cleaning vehicles, buildings, or entire settings inspired by works of pop culture, has attracted a wide audience of cozy games fans. This latest chapter is no exception: in addition to the subway train, players will be able to make a park decorated with an imposing gnome statue, as well as other new environments, shine. The whole thing is already available for free via a simple game update.
PowerWash Simulator 2 is already on its way
This conclusion therefore marks the end of a cycle for FuturLab, which has confirmed that it will no longer offer additional content for this first opus. A decision motivated by the upcoming arrival of a second game that is more visually accomplished, with new mechanics and increased performance. PowerWash Simulator 2, announced earlier this year, is expected for 2025 at the earliest.
This sequel promises a split-screen co-op mode and a major change, as the studio will this time self-publish its game, unlike the first installment, which had benefited from the support of Square Enix Collective. This change of partner also signifies the end of the licensed collaborations, which had marked the first game with levels inspired by franchises like Final Fantasy VII or Tomb Raider. It remains to be seen whether this sequel will be able to maintain the balance between simplicity, cleaning, and relaxation that made the first game so successful.
