A few months ago, at The Game Awards 2024, CD Projekt Red officially announced The Witcher IV with a first CGI trailer. During its latest quarterly review, the Polish studio looked back on the last weeks of development of the game and confirmed the enormous success of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt which has just celebrated its 10th anniversary.
The Witcher license at the top
As we know, The Witcher IV will not arrive right away and it will We have to be (very) patient. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that development is progressing well, but the Polish studio confirms that the game is still scheduled for the end of 2026 in the best case scenario. The teams are currently on schedule and the studio is eager to share more information about this new installment.
As for the previous title, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, which celebrated its 10th anniversary a few days ago, everything seems to be going well. The game has sold over 60 million games and has allowed CD Projekt Red to accumulate over $2.4 billion in revenue. A very nice sum and nice figures that confirm the popularity of the game and the license.
These figures concern all versions of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, including the complete edition with the two big expansions, whether on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
The coming months and years promise to be intense for CD Projekt Red, which also confirmed a few days ago the start of pre-production of CyberPunk2, which is expected, for its part, not before 2029, or even 2030. This sequel, known until now as Project Orion, had also been in preparation for several years.
