For Silent Hill fans, the past few weeks have been particularly rich in revelations. In fact, in addition to the confirmation that a new remake of the first installment was in preparation at Bloober Team, it was mainly Silent Hill f, the next installment in the saga, that was the center of attention. First at the State of Play, where we were given its release date, then at the Konami Press Start, where a focus was placed on the behind-the-scenes of its development.
The story of Silent Hill f has many surprises in store for us
It was on this occasion that we were able to discover more about what this new installment will have in store for us, which, according to its creators, will offer a completely new experience on many levels. Starting with the story and the themes it addresses. "We tackled a subject that had never been dealt with in the series," explains Ryukishi07, writer of Silent Hill f.
Personally, I think it fits well into the Silent Hill universe. […] During development, we discussed a lot with NeoBards to define the direction to take and how to express it. I'm sure the team perfectly understood and accepted everything we wanted to convey through the scenario..

Al Yang, the game director, then adds: "The scenario of Silent Hill f is very different from a classic scenario." "For example, we had to think about how the levels would be linked to the story, when we should push the players and when we should give them the choice to explore," he explains. Knowing that, as in many modern games, the narration will then be conveyed as much by cutscenes as by in-game notes, animations or even sounds.
Japanese horror
Naturally, the fact that Silent Hill f takes place this time in a Japanese context, and not in the American town of Silent Hill, then played a fundamental role in this change. "We spent a lot of time talking with NeoBards and Konami to try to understand how best to convey the eerie charm and sense of loneliness that hangs over the city of Ebisugaoka," reveals Albert Lee, the game's producer.
"We hope this game will allow more people to appreciate the unique aesthetics and design of Japanese culture," adds Kaiyu Chang, lead level designer. Now we just have to wait until September 25th to discover all this in Silent Hill f which, as a reminder, will feature the story of Hinako Shimizu in a tale "marked by doubts, regrets and choices that cannot be escaped".
