Bad news for all Spotify subscribers... The music streaming platform has just increased the price of all its plans in France. Here's how much you'll have to pay now.
Like Christmas, back-to-school, or the French Cup, Spotify has clearly decided to make price increases an annual event. After an initial price increase made official in July 2023, the streaming platform returned to the charge in 2024.
At the time, the Swedish company justified this new price increase in response to the streaming tax introduced by the French government. Consequently, one could easily bet that Spotify would not repeat the process... But no. In fact, the service just sent emails to its users this Tuesday, June 3, 2025, to inform them of a new price increase! The updated pricing structure will take effect from July 2025, and the icing on the cake is that everyone will be affected (newcomers and existing subscribers alike).
Spotify is raising its prices again, here's how much you'll have to pay
In itself, the bad news isn't necessarily surprising, since we've heard of price increases in our Belgian, Dutch, and Luxembourgish neighbors in recent weeks.
In its email, the company is content to do the bare minimum to justify this increase. In short, it will allow continued innovation and improvement of services and features. There you have it. Please note that prices have already changed on the official Spotify website. But how much will you have to put down now to benefit from your subscription? Here are the detailed rates:
- Personal: €12.14/month instead of €11.12/month
- Students: €7.07/month instead of €6.06/month
- Duo: €17.20/month instead of €15.17/month
- Family: €21.24/month instead of €18.21/month
Is this an increase too much?
As you can see, no one is immune to this increase. What we will especially remember is the Family offer, which for the first time exceeds the €20 per month mark. Quietly, this is a milestone that Spotify had previously avoided.
Unsurprisingly, subscribers were quick to express their discontent on social media: “We're going to quietly move to Apple Music, that's it, Spotify is becoming the Netflix of music with never-ending price increases,” wrote one internet user. For others, this is yet another argument for leaving the platform, which, as a reminder, hasn't exactly had a good press since the beginning of the year. This is particularly due to the financial support of $150,000 for Donald Trump's inauguration.
