DC Studios has just unveiled the very first glimpse of the upcoming animated series Mister Miracle. An animated series that will notably feature the terrible Darkseid.
Who is Mister Miracle?
Created in 1971 by Jack Kirby as part of his famous Fourth World saga, there are actually two main incarnations of Mister Miracle, but the best known is Scott Free. Scott Free is the son of the Highfather, the benevolent ruler of New Genesis, a divine planet. In a peace treaty with the tyrannical Darkseid, ruler of Apokolips, they exchange their sons. Scott is thus raised in the hell of Apokolips, subjected to psychological and physical torture.
Despite this toxic environment and the pressure exerted by Darkseid, Scott manages to escape from Hell. He is the first and last to have achieved such a feat, earning him the nickname Mister Miracle. On Earth, he becomes a master of escape, and begins a career as a superhero. He is often accompanied by Big Barda, his partner and wife, also from Apokolips.
A TV series about Mister Miracle
Warner Bros took advantage of the Annecy Animation Festival to unveil the launch of an animated series dedicated to Mister Miracle. The show will be based on the comic book series by Tom King and Mitch Gerads. Tom King will even serve as producer and showrunner. This Mister Miracle series joins the long list of animated series currently in production at DC Studios, such as Blue Beetle, Starfire, My Adventures with Green Lantern, and DC Super Powers. Mister Miracle will likely fit into the rest of the DC Universe (DCU), similar to the recent Creature Commandos series. Warner Bros. even shared an official synopsis: The series follows Scott Free, known to the world as Mister Miracle, the greatest escape artist who ever lived. Along with his wife, Big Barda, Scott seemed to have built the perfect life on Earth—until everything began to fall apart. As the war between the planets Apocalypse and New Genesis rages, Scott's adoptive father, Darkseid, has apparently obtained the Anti-Life Equation, a devastating force capable of dominating the universe. Mister Miracle becomes the last hope to end the conflict and restore peace. But the power of Anti-Life may already be affecting Scott's mind, distorting his reality and threatening the happiness he shares with Barda.
It's hard to know if this plot will be inspired by the series Harley Quinn and Kite Man , which already featured Darkseid and the Anti-Life Equation. On the animated side, Mister Miracle seems to fall somewhere between Harley Quinn and Creature Commandos. While we wait to learn more about this new DC production, we leave you with this first image.
