The Galaxy S25 Edge passes this robustness test with flying colors, which we thought was a lost cause

Samsung is betting big on thinness with the Galaxy S25 Edge. But how does such a thin smartphone fare in durability tests? A famous YouTuber took it upon himself to check it out, and the result is astonishing.

The Galaxy S25 Edge passes this robustness test with flying colors, which we thought was a lost cause

With the Galaxy S25, Samsung is once again offering its high-end series in several models: S25, S25+, S25 Ultra… and S25 Edge. The latter stands out with a radical choice: thinness above all. At just 5.8 mm thick, this is the thinnest smartphone ever offered by the brand. An aesthetic gamble that is not without consequences, particularly on battery life, photography, and heat dissipation capacity.

But this extreme thinness raises an essential question: can such a thin phone really withstand intensive use? To find out, the famous YouTuber JerryRigEverything subjected the Galaxy S25 Edge to his series of torture tests. As always, his goal is to check its resistance to scratches, heat, and especially twisting. And this time, the result is much more robust than expected. The smartphone even held up better than some thicker models tested in recent years.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is scratch-resistant, heat-resistant... and bends without breaking

The Galaxy S25 Edge's screen uses Corning's new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. This coating improves strength while maintaining good display quality. During testing, the panel began to scratch at level 6 on the Mohs scale, with deeper marks at level 7. This remains in line with current standards. The smartphone also withstood prolonged exposure to heat: after 30 seconds under direct flame, the screen showed no permanent damage.

But it was the twist test that impressed the most. Despite its ultra-thin titanium frame, the Galaxy S25 Edge neither cracked nor twisted under pressure. An unexpected result that reassures us about the solidity of the design. On the other hand, this finesse implies concessions: no telephoto lens, a smaller battery, and a high price of €1,252 for the 256 GB version. A choice that risks dividing, between neat design and technical compromises.
