After Mega Gardevoir and Mega Lucario, Pokémon unveils four new cards from its upcoming expansion based on Mega Evolutions.
Pokémon TCG: Mobile Game or Physical Version?
Earlier this year, players rebelled against The Pokémon Company and its Prismatic Evolutions expansion. On paper, these are very rare Eevee evolutions to open and collect. In reality, drop rates deemed catastrophic and stock shortages due to constant scalping.
With no money to invest in rare tripacks or other boxes, and disappointed by the shortage, many players have been tempted by the mobile game Pokémon Trading card Game Poket. The principle is essentially the same, but in digital version. Every day (unless you take out your wallet), open the boosters to complete the immense collection. As a bonus, the possibility of building a deck to attack ranked games. Launched in 2024, the game was an immediate success, and surpassed the 100 million download mark at the beginning of the year.
Two new Mega Evolutions revealed
The physical series continues to expand through a new block that will see the return of a much-loved theme: Mega Evolutions, introduced in the video game Pokémon X and Y. Also returning in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, they will be featured in the next expansion called Mega Rebel and Mega Symphony. The collection was presented at Pokémon Presents last February through Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir. Today, a new trailer reveals two new Mega Evolutions: Mega Venusaur and Mega Latias.
The first one looks monstrous with its 380 HP and its "Jungle Rejection" attack, which inflicts 240 damage. As for "Solar Transfer," you can move your energies as much as you like to other Pokémon to launch new attackers.
Equally interesting, Mega Latias lets you navigate with your bench thanks to an ultra-fast attack. Her ultimate attack "Illusory Pulse" is devastating, despite the requirement to gather three different energies and then have to discard them all after the attack.
Also, the TCG introduces two new trainers, in the form of Lillie and Timmy. "Lillie's Determination" is an excellent draw, while "Timmy's Compassion" allows you to heal all the damage from your best Mega Evolution, and recover the energies attached to it.
For the moment, however, we do not know when this brand new expansion will arrive in France. Announced on August 1, 2025 in Japan,Mega Brave and Mega Symphony could arrive in the West on September 26, according to a leak. No doubt a new Pokémon Presents announced for July 22 will allow us to learn more.
And if you want to know which are the most expensive cards currently, it's here.
