Last December, CD Projekt Red officially announced The Witcher IV at The Game Awards ceremony. We were then treated to an impressive trailer, lifting the veil on the game, featuring Ciri, the new protagonist of the saga.
A few weeks ago, we learned that the game's development was progressing well. And, a few days ago, during the Summer Game Fest 2025, we were treated to a rather impressive technical demo under Unreal Engine on PS5 to reveal the game's universe.
Unfortunately, we will have to be patient, because The Witcher IV is not expected before the end of 2026, or even 2027 in the best case scenario. In the meantime, we might be able to wait with new content for The Witcher III.
The Witcher III: a new DLC in 2026?
While we learned just a few days agothat The Witcher III had sold more than 60 million copies, allowing CD Projekt Red to accumulate more than $2.4 billion in revenue, new rumors suggest the arrival of new content for the game.
We owe this information to the YouTube channel Remigiusz Maciaszek (with more than 1.45 million subscribers) in their latest video. According to the channel's information, a mysterious project is in the works on the part of CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory. This project would be a new DLC for The Witcher III:
Also according to the YouTube channel Remigiusz Maciaszek, the release of the DLC would be expected for 2026. CD Projekt's goal would be to initially offer the mods on consoles. Then, the new DLC for The Witcher III. Followed by the release of The Witcher IV. And offer a remake of the very first game The Witcher released in October 2007.
Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt as long as nothing has been officially confirmed. But, that wouldn't be surprising, since CD Projekt also seems to be preparing new content for CyberPunk 2077, while they are currently preparing CyberPunk 2. To be continued.
