Marvel superheroes sometimes have equivalent powers. The mutant Omega Storm and the God of Thunder Thor can both rain lightning down on their opponents. But that doesn't mean their lightning is identical, as Marvel has just revealed.
Storm and Thor, two "lightning" characters
Popularized by actress Halle Berry, who played her in Fox's first X-Men trilogy, Storm is a mutant power capable of mastering the elements. Ororo Munroe, her real name, can unleash lightning on her enemies, but not only that: snowstorms, Torrential rains, powerful tornadoes, and changes in atmospheric pressure are all within her capabilities. The superheroine is nevertheless particularly fond of lightning and the electricity she can generate thanks to her meteorological powers. Thor, the God of Thunder, son of Odin, has more limited abilities when it comes to controlling the elements. He controls lightning and can strike his opponents with lightning. Thanks to Mjolnir, his magical hammer that very few characters are worthy of lifting, he can also amplify this power. A difference... in temperature! Marvel officially answered this fan question in Marvel Adventures The Avengers #29, as the two superheroes grew closer. Sitting on a rooftop, they compare their lightning, and Thor is very impressed and a little amazed by Storm's. The mutant produces a bolt of lightning that lands in the God's palm, who reacts by telling her that his lightning is "hot" while hers is "so cold." A temperature difference that could come from their diametrically opposed origins. One grew up in Kenya, where she was worshipped as a goddess, while the other is inspired by Norse mythology... Enough to create a beautiful complementarity between their powers!
