The latest unlikely innovation comes straight from Tinder, which is looking to make first contacts more fun and natural thanks to a “double date” feature. Rather than going off alone to meet a stranger, how about discovering a duo of friends with your own buddy? This is the pitch for the new service offered by Tinder, which seeks to meet the need for originality and security among younger generations of users.
After the option to share the details of your date with trusted friends, or the Matchmaker function to invite your friends to Swipe, it is now possible to create a double date profile with a friend. The Double Date option was previously reserved for certain countries, but is finally preparing to be rolled out worldwide next month. Original dates made easy
The Double Date feature is represented by a new icon located in the top right corner of the app, right next to the filters and boosts. By clicking on it, you can then form up to three duos with friends. Once Double Date mode is activated, the app's home page offers other duos to swipe. The rules are as follows: a single like per duo is enough to trigger a match. The four participants then join a group chat to arrange a date. But your friend's crush still needs to have a companion that you also like!
Tinder promises, however, that this feature facilitates more natural encounters. “Women who tested Double Date were three times more likely to like a duo than an individual profile, and match rates are significantly higher with this feature,” the company states in its press release. The idea of a duo meeting certainly has the merit of being more reassuring, but also more friendly and relaxed from the start, enough to avoid overly insistent suitors. Tinder also claims that 15% of users who accept a Double Date invitation are former users who have returned to the app to try out this unusual feature or to accompany a friend.
