It looks like this summer, skateboarding fans won't have time to be bored! While Activision is actively preparing for the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 next month, Electronic Arts continues to work on the return of a franchise that has been defunct for fifteen years: Skate. And after having had a first testing session a few months ago, this fourth installment developed by Full Circle will be available again next month, before launching its early access at the end of the summer.
Skate reveals its next big update
The studio has just announced it via a long press release: the future competitor to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 will indeed be entitled to a new phase of playtests next month, which will more specifically begin on July 2nd. And as Full Circle proudly points out, this will be the "BIGGEST playtest" held for the game to date. On the agenda:
- A major improvement in the title's visuals, with enriched and, above all, more vibrant environments, as well as reworked lighting
- A redesign of the user interface, with new visual effects and an improved map
- An increase in the maximum number of players on a single server to 150
- The addition of new missions, the total of which has now been tripled
- The addition of new challenges, with more than 140 activities now available
- The overhaul of the rewards and progression system
- The appearance of new customization options for your character
Knowing that this also comes with many other changes, whether in terms of music and sound, the Replay Editor, the general quality of the experience, haptic feedback, and more. "None of this would be possible without all our testers who tell us what you like, what you want more of, and what you'd like to improve," the developers said. "The whole team is listening, and we will continue to work with you to develop, evolve, and improve Skate.".
How to participate in the next playtest?
And if you want to be one of the players who can help Full Circle in its efforts, you can always sign up for Skate Insider program to be invited to participate in the next playtests, which will take place on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Please note, however, that you only have until June 27th to register, after which it will be too late. Finally, note that for registering for the program, you will receive a bonus skateboard and exclusive stickers to use as soon as Early Access launches, the date of which has yet to be specified.
