Trump launches his own smartphone and mobile plan: here is Trump Mobile!

A project as symbolic as it is commercial, designed to appeal to a conservative base and strengthen the Trump brand in a sector still untapped by the clan, and offering a “Made in USA” alternative to the telecom giants.

Golden phone, patriotic plan

The single plan, called The47Plan, costs $47.45 per month, a symbolic figure recalling the terms of President Trump, 45th and 47th President of the United States. The offer includes unlimited calls, texts and data, international coverage to more than 100 countries, roadside assistance and 24/7 telehealth. “If you like Trump, you’ll love Trump Mobile,” the official website reads.

On the hardware side, the Trump Organization has also unveiled a Trump-branded smartphone. The T1 Phone, priced at $499, runs Android 15, has a 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED display, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of expandable storage, a 5000mAh battery, a 50MP main camera, and even a 3.5mm jack. The case? Gold, of course. And on the back, we find the famous slogan: “Make America Great Again.”

But the phone is not yet available for purchase. A $100 pre-order is open now, with delivery expected in September 2025.

A conservative MVNO on T-Mobile networks

Behind Trump Mobile, we don't find an in-house network infrastructure, but an MVNO (mobile virtual operator) relying on the T-Mobile network, via a partner named Liberty Wireless. The company nevertheless specifies that other agreements are possible with Verizon or AT&T, depending on the geographic area.

The call centers promise to be 100% based in the United States, notably in St. Louis, Missouri, a key argument for the MAGA base, often critical of outsourcing abroad. The stated objective is twofold: to offer an alternative to the "woke big techs" and to guarantee "American-style" customer service.

A Well-Run Brand Strategy

The Trump Mobile project is actually led by T1 Mobile LLC, a company separate from the Trump Organization. The latter has licensed the brand to T1, just as it does for its hotels, casinos, and merchandise. The Trump Mobile, T1, and Trump trademarks were filed with the USPTO to cover telecom services, accessories, and even physical stores.

The launch comes ten years to the day after Donald Trump descended the escalator at Trump Tower, announcing his first presidential candidacy. A highly symbolic date, which further anchors this company in a self-promotional and political register, much more than a purely technological one.

This foray into the world of telephony is part of a massive diversification strategy for the Trump brand. In recent months, the president has launched a sneaker collection, a perfume, a cryptocurrency, and continues to promote Truth Social, his own social network. All with a clear guiding principle: capitalize on his popularity among the American conservative base and turn each sector into a lever of influence.

Eric Trump, the tycoon's son, is now the face of Trump Mobile. In the presentation video, he promises "the best phone service in the country" and describes the project as "patriotic and personal."
