You're probably eagerly awaiting the chance to finally get your hands on the Switch 2 you pre-ordered weeks ago, but some lucky people already have Nintendo's new handheld console at home. The opportunity is too good for the YouTube channel ProModding, which is offering us today a disassembly of this Switch 2, an operation which turns out to be relatively easy if you have the right tools (and if you know where certain screws are hidden).
The inside of the Switch 2 without surprises
In addition to the Nvidia SoC which has already been talked about many times, we discover in video – and under the microscope please – the two 6 GB LPDDR5X memory chips manufactured by Hynix, the WiFi/Bluetooth controller from Mediatek and the audio chipset from Realtek. More interestingly, the thermal pastes used are the same as on the first generation Switch; Replacing them could potentially slightly improve performance and extend the console's lifespan, as was the case with the first Switch.
This approximately 17-minute video ultimately doesn't really tell us anything new, but it does confirm that the leaks from the last few months about the inside of the portable console were indeed real, particularly regarding the integrated components and chips.
