WhatsApp continues to enrich its features to remain the preferred messaging app for the general public. Each month, the platform publishes a summary of its new features. In June, several changes are added to the previous ones. Meta is thus continuing its strategy of overall improvement, as shown by the recent arrival of voice and video calls on the web version, or an option to choose the quality of photos and videos received automatically. The objective is clear: to make exchanges simpler and more lively. The most visible new feature concerns animated emojis, now available in all chats. Some well-known ones, like the red heart or the wink, animate when sent to attract attention and energize conversations. WhatsApp is also adding a tool to create animated stickers from videos, a feature designed for those who like to personalize their messages. Finally, social avatar stickers are making a comeback: they combine your avatar and that of a contact in the same image, but only work in private chats.

WhatsApp finally lets you create a group without adding anyone

On the organizational side, WhatsApp makes it easier to create empty groups, in which you can first define a name, an image, and share a link before adding members. The application also lets you add a common caption to several photos or videos sent at the same time. Functions that simplify event management or content sharing. During calls, six new filters and visual effects are appearing to make video conversations more expressive.

WhatsApp is also improving the “Updates” section: channel administrators can now propose illustrated polls, with an image for each option. It is also possible to favorite certain content to find it more easily. In statuses, users can now mention an entire group, which sends a notification to all members. All these features are being rolled out gradually on Android and iOS, and presented in detail on the official website of the app.
