When you walk into a store, what you think is a poster might be a Samsung e-ink display.

Earlier this year, Samsung launched its 75-inch Color E-Paper display, based on e-ink display technology. The manufacturer has now started marketing this model in a 32-inch version, which is more suitable for certain businesses. The great advantage of this product is that it consumes almost no energy when the image is still, making it a perfect advertising or information medium. Its 4,600 mAh battery can thus offer a battery life of more than 500 days.

The screen has a QHD definition (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), often considered ideal for this 32-inch format, especially since you are not supposed to have your nose on it in the contexts for which it can be useful. All devices of this type perform particularly well in direct sunlight thanks to the absence of reflections, and the Color E-Paper promises this same characteristic.

Samsung invites itself into stores with its e-ink screens

Weighing 2.5 kg and a maximum thickness of 17.9 mm (8.6 mm for the thinnest point), this electronic ink screen seems easily transportable and installable on a support highlighted so that it can be seen by the public. Samsung announces “an advanced color imaging algorithm to analyze optimized content and obtain paper-quality readability”. The brand adds that with its reduced bezels, continuous dimming, and enhanced colors, its Color E-Paper displays “can replace standard prints such as posters and other point-of-sale displays.”.

The Samsung E-Paper app allows merchants to pay for the device from their iPhone or Android smartphone. For large corporations that have their own display control system, Tizen Enterprise APIs are available to integrate the new screens into their existing infrastructure.

In any case, it's possible that you might come across one of these screens while you're out shopping or grocery shopping. You might not even realize it if the paper imitation is as good as Samsung promises.
