Zelda TOTK: Plenty of free content available, here's how to get it

The least we can say is that Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has had a good life. After a solid run on Nintendo Switch 1, its Nintendo Switch 2 version allows you to enjoy it in much better conditions. And to extend the pleasure a little longer, Nintendo is now offering you the chance to get free content via a new feature. Isn't life good? Let us explain.

Lots of free content on Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

In fact, all of this happens via Zelda Notes, a companion app integrated into the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Thanks to it, you can now scan a QR code to instantly import an Autobuild plan into your game. The first example offered by Nintendo is a ready-to-use hovercraft. Once the QR code is scanned from the app menu, the plan is added to your collection. You can then build it in the blink of an eye with the right materials. No need to assemble everything yourself: just press a button, and you're ready to go.

But where Zelda Notes gets really interesting is that it's not limited to official content. In fact, each player can share their own creations by generating a QR code, which others can then scan to import the construction into their own game. As a result, the community is having a field day. War vehicles, wacky robots, ingenious traps, crazy flying machines... You can find everything, everywhere. Reddit, Twitter, specialized forums...

A feature that finds itself diverted

As is often the case with this type of feature, some more tinkering Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players quickly found a way to push the system to its limits. By modifying their save on a hacked Switch 1, they managed to integrate normally inaccessible elements into their maps.

We're seeing QR codes circulating that can reveal multiple Eponas, locked objects, or even an enemy Ganondorf, ready to hunt you down across Hyrule. A lovely touch of madness that proves, once again, that fans' creativity truly has no limits. It's even possible to add dogs all over the map. In short, great madness as we like.
