Update 12/27 — The iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and 14 Plus have now completely disappeared from the Apple Store online, in France and Europe. The store pages dedicated to these smartphones now redirect to the iPhone home page, and it is no longer possible to order them at all.
Original article, 12/26 — Those who want to get their hands on an iPhone SE or iPhone 14 will have to act quickly: Apple has started to clean up the shelves of its European stores. These smartphones can still be delivered, but collection from an Apple Store is no longer available in France, Germany, or Spain. With a bit of luck, it should still be possible to buy one by going to an Apple store, without ordering online. But the days of these two ranges are numbered.
The unwanted Lightning port
The iPhone SE, iPhone 14 and 14 plus are the last models sold by Apple still equipped with a Lightning port. However, European regulations stipulate that all smartphones must integrate a USB-C port for charging as of December 28. Apple was the last manufacturer to switch to this connection.
In this area, Switzerland is a pioneer, since for a few days neither the iPhone SE nor the iPhone 14 have been available for collection or delivery. Switzerland is not part of the European Union of course, but the country has decided to follow the European trend.
The stepping stone in the iPhone catalog will therefore very soon be the iPhone 15 starting at €869 — a far cry from the €529 of the iPhone SE! However, this is only temporary: a new iPhone SE model should be unveiled soon, probably around March.
